f(x) Makes An Exciting Comeback On M! Countdown With "Rum Pum Pum Pum" + Lyrics

f(x) had their first comeback stage on M! Countdown today with the first single off of their "Pink Tape" album, "Rum Pum Pum Pum", so take a look:

Comeback stage with intro:

This was an excellent comeback stage for the girls, even though they were lip syncing (as is the norm for SM artists for their first few comeback performances).  They looked fabulous and those plaid outfits really translate well to the live stage.  I was iffy on Krystal's hair color on her until today, but I really like it.  I thought it made her look a little washed out in the mv but it looks better live.  I also really like Luna's shoes (they look like they could be Celine fw 2013 but I'm sure they're just a great knock off), Krystal's shoes, and Sulli's whole outfit.  Victoria's is cute too, especially her tights.  I'm still not a fan of Amber's outfit but she's working that shool boy chic as well as she can.

Let's talk about their choreography for a minute.  Kevin Maher was the choreographer for "Rum Pum Pum Pum", and I wish I could personally tell him how much I enjoy it.  I like how he stayed true to f(x)'s gliding-yet-angular-pose dance style while giving them something unique to work with.  These aren't recycled dance moves that everyone has done already, and I love that.  I feel like I often see other Kpop girl groups co-opting each other's dance moves, so it's always refreshing to see something different.   I can't wait to see more comeback stages and/or a dance practice video so we can really see the whole thing without so many cuts to their faces.

I was curious about the lyrics to the song since it's supposedly about a wisdom tooth, which I thought sounded kind of odd.  Then I actually read the lyrics and realized that the wisdom tooth is obviously a euphemism for love, and not an easy love either.  Check out the lyrics below:

I've talked about how f(x) is not your usual Kpop girl group, and this song just illustrates just how different they are.  It's a true female empowerment love song, 2013 style.  While most girl groups are talking cutely about how they wish oppa would look at them, f(x) is letting you know that you will fall or them, but that they're difficult and yet hard to forget.  Love it.
