Day 5 [Guest Blogger Week] A Rant About Kpop Fans

Today's the last day of Guest Blogger Week on the blog and we started with a bang, so we're going out with a bang.  I'm bringing you a very strongly worded post from Line (aka Nani ) of Nancakes.org .  She's from Denmark but currently living in Seoul, South Korea (jealous!) and I met her through this blog because I posted a video of Shinee 's Key at Seoul Fashion Week here last year and she was in it.  How funny is that??  Nani is infamous for her rants about stuff, so I knew when I asked her that we'd be in for it. :)  She also blogs and vlogs about makeup and Kpop, amongst other things.  Just remember, if you don't like curse words, or are easily offended, don't read on.  Enjoy! Nani Rants About Kpop F ans Written by Nani of  Nancakes.org Let's start an argument among kpop fans, shall we? (just kidding... maybe ) I'm not really gonna talk about the crazy-ass nut job "fans", also known as the infamous "sasaeng

[Guest Blogger Week] Regular Guy or Celebrity: A Soldier Is A Soldier Is A Soldier. Got That?

It's  Guest Blogger Week  at Oddness/Weirdness!  I'm sure you're wondering what that entails, right? Well, a fellow blogger approached me about writing a post for her blog about something that I really feel strongly about in the world of Kpop.  I thought that was such a good idea that I decided to borrow it for my blog. I begged asked some of my awesome blogger friends to help me out and, surprisingly (and graciously), they said yes! These fabulous women are a super diverse bunch. They come from all walks of life and all have their own unique niche in the Kpop blogger world. I'm excited to present their posts for your enjoyment, and I hope you'll be as interested to read them as I was. You'll be missing out if you don't! The first post is written by Stephe of CloudUSA.org .  She's the co-founder of that site, as well as a power blogger, technical writer, Fine Fabrications Fiction Focus Group facilitator, fantasy & paranormal novelist, &

A Year In Review + My Goals For OddnessWeirdness in 2013

2012 was an interesting year for me and Oddness/Weirdness blog.  A lot of good things happened to me last year, blogging-wise, and I wanted to share my good fortune with you guys in a year- end post.

Another Odd Opinion: MyMusicRadar! Vents About Recent Shinee "Controversies"

Today on Oddness/Weirdness I'm introducing one of my favorite blogs/bloggers to my site for an opinion piece.  My friend Stormy of  MyMusicRadar!  had something relevant to vent about and I figured this would be a great place to do it.  Hopefully I'll be featuring some more guest posting on the site and maybe doing a bit of guest posting of my own.  Comment below and let me know what you think! Another episode of 'All Babies grow UP!' This is NOT the face of innocence my friends. The sad fact is, ALL babies grow up. If only we let them.... Taemin has been asking...nay BEGGING us to let him grow up, but it seems that netizens on the whole don't want him to. They insist that he stay in their little bubble of sweetness and, frankly, its starting to get on my nerves. Kpop is notoriously filled with softporn and homo-eroticism that smacks some people in the face and is so 'not the reality they wanted', to coin one of Jonghyun's ow

Song of the Day: Pixie Lott feat. GD and T.O.P

Idol Style: INFINITE

What can I say about INFINITE ?  They're a rookie group that's not so rookie anymore.  They've really blown everyone out of the water with their perfectly synchronized dance moves, great songs and adorable personalities.  I have to give props to their choreographer because he always brings it and then Infinite puts their blood, sweat and tears into practicing until they are absolutely perfect. I'm always rooting for them to win stuff and when they did finally start winning awards, I was over the moon for them.  I definitely feel like their  noona  when I'm watching them perform or just being silly on variety shows, and they've managed to dance their way into a special place in my heart.

Video of the Day: B.A.P. Warrior

So B.A.P., short for Best Absolute Perfect, just debuted and posted their new mv, "Warrior", up on YouTube yesterday.  Can I just say how much I like this song?  What a great way to debut.  Their agency, TS Entertainment, didn't need to make 30248394 teasers (I'm side eyeing another well known entertainment agency that-shall-not be-named as I'm writing this).  Just release a good song with a good video and sit back and reap the benefits.

Teen Top Comeback: 2nd Mini Album

So... Teen Top revealed their new mini album today.  The name of the album is "It's: Mini Album Vol. 2" and was produced by Brave Brothers.  Yes, I know that not that long ago I was sooo excited to hear it but... well...  It's really just ok, imho. You be the judge: 1. Teen Top

Video of the Day: Big Bang x 2

Today I figured I'd take it wayyyyy back to 2008 (har, har!) and post up some Big Bang- "Haru Haru".  This is one of the few music videos that kinda almost brought a tear to my eye.  The song is incredible but what I really love is the story.  You don't even need to know Korean to follow along or to feel sad at the end.  In my opinion, Big Bang is really good at being dramatic without being melodramatic in their videos and at the end of this video I was left thinking that G-Dragon, especially, needs to act more often. Source:  YGEntertainment Here's another example of GD's singing and acting skills.  He played this during his 2009 concert called Shine A Light and it's called "She's Gone".  It's very, VERY dark and moody and grim, which is pretty much why I love it. Source:  iKpopVideoHQseason4 I'm thinking he makes a very sinister and yet sexy murderer.  He could kill me anytime... ok... not really but you get what I mean

Lol!

1. I love Kpop guys.  JoKwon ALWAYS makes me laugh. 2. This contest should be a blast. Source:  wondergirls ,  Image source: Me

Video of the Day: Wonder Girls Be My Baby

Saw this video last night and promptly decided it's the cutest thing ever.  I love the '60s vibe going on with the Bob Fosse-ish choreography, the black and white set and the extra cute dresses with fur trim. The choreography is adorable and easy to do and I expect to see a plethora of copycat fan videos all over You Tube. The song is great too, and goes hand-in-hand with that '60s vibe... definitely makes me think of  Martha and the Vandellas .  The rap is even good and goes really well with the song, which I was surprised about.  Everything about it puts a big smile on my face.  Great job, JYP and Wonder Girls! Make sure to watch this on full screen in HD for the full experience. Source:  Wonder_Girls , Image source:  koreangirlsgroup

Video of the day: Big Bang Love Song

Love the song, love the dystopian future-like look and feel to the video and I especially love the surprise ending.  The way the video is filmed in one long take makes it especially beautiful and it fits the song so well. Big Bang's Love Song... Enjoy! Source:  BIGBANG ,  Image source:  mtvk

Videos of the Day: Kpop Dance Practice Videos

I love watching a good Kpop dance practice video almost as much as I enjoy watching a group or singer perform a song live.  This way you get to see them in their natural habitat (aka practice room, where they probably spend about 90% of their time) and you get to see the performance straight on with no annoying camera angles.  I mean, I love you KBS Music Bank and others, but really... sometimes I want to slap your camera men. Here are a few of my favorites... Rain first, of course! Hip Song :

Oooh TVXQ

An early '90s-ish, Jodeci-style slow jam, Kpop style that I've been listening to a lot recently. A friend of mine calls it the sex song.  Make sure to watch it in large screen HD to really appreciate every detail.  Source: sment What I think is hilarious: The slow-mo, beseeching hands and eyes, wind-blowing their tousled hair and clothing shots. What I love: The choreography and the fact that you wouldn't think you'd be hearing this sort of song coming out of their lips.  I also love the fact that Changmin (on the left, mostly) doesn't look like those sounds should come out that svelte body.  Especially love the dance break that starts at 3:27 and the extra special move at around 3:45. After seeing the fancams of them performing this at Madison Square Garden recently, all I have to say is, "Wow!"
