TS Entertainment has just released
B.A.P's newest single with accompanying mv,
"Rain Sound", and I honestly don't know what to feel. My brain is pretty much stuck on, "Hmm..." right now. Watch below:
First, I'll say that I do think that most of the mv is quite beautifully done. I like how they made all the shots look like luminous oil paintings. My first thought was that TS Entertainment and B.A.P had discovered Tumblr and they wanted to see just how many artful screenshots, edits and gifs everyone could come up with.... We all know that answer to that is a gajillion million.
Second, I do like that B.A.P is trying to dabble in different genres and sounds with each of their new releases. It's refreshing to hear such a newbie Kpop group come out so strong every time. However, "Rain Sound" isn't a song that I'd ever listen to more than once or twice. To me, it sounds like something that should be playing in the background of a Kdrama while the characters are at a cafe, and that's not really a good thing in my opinion.
What's kind of amusing is the tortured looks the boys try to slather all over their faces.

Some are better at it than others (I'm looking at you, Zelo), but still... let's not.
What stopped me cold was the all the black-and-white-with-green-rain shots. What. The. Hell?? My mouth literally fell open just a little when that part dawned on my screen. And then this:
Um, what?? Yeah no. It's like some creepy foreign film gone seriously wrong and I'm not into it at all.
One last thing. Are my eyes deceiving me or has Zelo gotten even more thin? Has he grown even more? He needs to eat something because he's getting a little thinspo on us over there. Do I need to send him some burgers or what??

I've been looking forward for this single to be released actually, I enjoy the song, even though I'e it's just been released so it's too to say if/or I will get tired of it by the end of the day but, I find the music video very artistic as you put it, but the color use really makes me (as a former digital/classic art major cringe a little) cringe a little (overuse of the word but it's trueeee). But yeah Zelo does look thinner D:
ReplyDeleteI actually hadn't been paying any attention to the teasers. I knew they were releasing a new song but that's about it. I'm glad they're doing well and I really like the look of the mv up to a certain point, and we both know what that point is... lol. All that green/red/grey/white makes me cringe too. I also hated the blank looks on their faces that they had on while they were getting "shot". Creeppyyyy...
