Unconventional Shapes Pt. 2

Style I Love: Sheer Fluidity

Everything Old is New Again

I was so into Boy London clothes when I was younger.  It used to be all about punks and New Wave.  Cracks me up when everything swings back around on the fashion wheel.

Style I Love: Jackets, Blazers and Vests

One thing you will rarely ever see me without is some sort of blazer, vest or cardi because I love, love, LOVE to layer, even in the heights of summer.  Yes, I am the one you see wearing a jacket in July, probably sweating bullets but whatever.  That's how I do! I seem to have acquired quite the collection of jackets and blazers and am always looking for more.  I especially am into ones with unique touches like asymmetrical hems, interesting proportions, zippers in odd places, all that good stuff.

Style I Love: Polka Dot Power

It sure has been awhile since I made a fashion post.  Seriously, shame on me.  I'm supposed to be talking about fashion AND Kpop and Kpop managed to take over for a bit... not that I'm complaining.  Even now I just had to tell myself, "It's ok... You do not have to insert GD or Key into a post about polka dots."  Yes I talk to myself sometimes... don't side-eye me. Anyway, I've found myself slowly but surely falling in love with polka dots.  This started in December, when the stores started to get flooded with polka dotted items and I started wanting to buy almost every piece.  I realized I wanted to buy them mostly because, besides being cute, the polka dots were cute as hell.  Kind of edgy, which is my style, and yet sweet.  I actually like to wear my polka dots with another pattern, mainly stripes.  Makes me feel ever so '80s, when it was first in style.  Anyone remember the brand Esprit?? So... yeahhh.  I'm all about those dots now.  Someo

Style I Love: Wide Leg Pants

I've always been a sucker for a wide leg pants... I like them all:  high waisted, extra wide, bellbottom, flare, super flare, palazzo, you name it, I like it.  I don't particularly care if they're in style that season or not, I'm all over them like peanut butter on jelly.  I consider this style to be flattering on many women, but especially if you're taller, like me.  If not, throw on some high wedges or platforms and work that strut.

Style I Love: Pops of Floral

Warning: This is not a trend for the faint of heart.  This is for people who embrace color and fun, fab prints and aren't afraid to rock them.  Don't be afraid to try a floral print with another, more bold, floral print or even with a totally different print.  If you're not as daring, pair it with a bright pop of color or a neutral...either way is great.  Will I be wearing a pop of floral this spring?  Why yes I will!

Style I Love: Powerful and Fierce

So Jealous of Her Closet: Solange Knowles

I've featured Solange Knowles on this blog before but I had to give her her own post.  This woman is a master of mixing patterns and combining clashing silhouettes into one pleasing whole.  Whether she has a stylist or picks her outfits out herself (she says it's all her!), she is spectacular and I tip my hat to her.  She is the epitome of all my urban-boho fashion dreams. Also, whoever does her hair and makeup needs to come to my house every day and do mine. Thanks!

Guy Style Post #2

A stylish male is always going to be extremely relevant.

So Jealous of Her Closet: Taylor Tomasi Hill

If I was that thin and had that level of money (you know, the kind where you spend $1000 on a pair of shoes without blinking), I'd totally want to dress like Taylor Tomasi Hill.  Talk about my style icon!  Almost every time I see a pic of her I'm pretty much speechless at the fabulosity.  She knows how to put together disparate pieces to make this incredibly fashion forward whole; She's not really trendy... she's just got her own thing going on. Taylor Tomasi Hill is the style and accessories director for Marie Claire US.

Style I Love: Leather Looks

There's something so androgynous and edgy about a well-made black leather piece.

Style I Love: Pastel Hair

Style I Love: Leopard Print

In the past year or so I have really gotten into leopard print.  I've embraced the print and cherished the print and invited it into my wardrobe.  Don't get me wrong, my closet is not bursting at the seams with leopard items but I've come a long way from when I absolutely hated it.  I'm even considering getting more leopard print pieces... I just have to wait till I find something else I love in the right hue and tone. You can don just a peek of leopard or you can clothe yourself in a few pieces... it's all in where your comfort zone is.

Style I Love: Winter Yellow

I have, like, 1 yellow piece in my closet but I'm thinking I need to indulge in more.  These pics are really inspiring me to work that color into my winter wardrobe.  What do you think??

Style I Love: Modern 60s

My own personal style is kind of all over the place.  I like anything from modern 60s retro girlie style to rocker chic, gothic or maybe even androgynous boy-style.  It just depends on how I'm feeling that day. Right now I'm leaning towards dressing more in that kind of revamped 60s vibe.  This involves lots of shift dresses, baby doll dresses, mary janes, cardigans, oxfords, pointy toed flats and tights in all hues.   I tend to wear more dark or jewel tones than anything but, ya never know, I might throw a pop of color in there. Here are some of my inspirations:
